France is a big country. It is a long way to the South of France, but it is worth it because the Languedoc region enjoys more than 300 sunny days every year.

It is 1100km from Calais to Narbonne which is a 10 - 12 hour drive. Whichever crossing you use it is a good day's drive to reach the south.

You can reach Narbonne by train via the  TGV ( train de grande vitesse) the super fast French train service.

There are many different regional airports both in the UK and France with flights to and from the region.

Although Carcassonne is the closest don't discount Girona because it is an easy drive and car hire is cheaper in Spain.
